25+ Years Battling

Suicide Awarness

For over 25 years, Dr. Rola has been on the front lines of suicide prevention — not from theory alone, but from the trenches. Her journey began during the darkest hours: working night shifts in a crowded psychiatric hospital, where the urgency of suicidal thoughts and self-injurious behaviors became part of her daily life. Those moments carved a deep sense of responsibility in her — to see each crisis, not as a statistic, but as a human story deserving of empathy, attention, and intervention.

Over time, Dr. Rola’s work expanded to outpatient clinics where she supported vulnerable youth grappling with complex family dynamics, generational trauma, mental illness, and overwhelming stress. There, she witnessed how early conversations, safe spaces, and therapeutic alliances could shift a life’s trajectory. She didn’t simply treat symptoms; she nurtured resilience, helping children and teens learn that despair doesn’t have to define them.

She later carried that commitment into one of the most isolating environments possible — the prison system. In administrative segregation units, she assessed suicide prevention measures, intervened with individuals in solitary confinement, and observed the acute intersection of hopelessness, isolation, and institutional barriers. In those stark corridors, Dr. Rola confronted the rawest expressions of despair.

Throughout those settings, one principle became clear: true prevention doesn’t stop at crisis management. It demands creating buffers of hope, connection, and belonging before distress takes root. Leveraging her deep clinical knowledge, trauma-informed practices, and a uniquely human touch, Dr. Rola has personally evaluated clients for suicide risk, intervened in countless lives, and stewarded the healing of hundreds of survivors. She has influenced outreach across 259 counties, supporting communities in turning pain into possibility.

Today, her mission is bold: to push the field beyond awareness and into activation. She educates professionals, partners with grassroots organizations, and challenges the deep-rooted myth that those who consider suicide have no other choice. Through interventions, advocacy, and her powerful “Nuggets of Wisdom” framework, Dr. Rola equips individuals and communities to see, speak, and stand with those in darkness — restoring hope one life at a time.

“Healing begins with understanding. My mission is to break the stigma around mental health and empower others with the knowledge and tools to navigate life’s challenges with confidence.”
